Gather your learners together to meet some of our resident animal ambassadors! By learning about each animal’s unique behaviors, physical features and survival techniques, they will gain a better understanding of these wild creatures and what makes them different from other animals. A question and answer session is included.

Sea life in a whole new way! Deep Sea, a new underwater adventure, transports audiences deep below the ocean surface. Feed our native insects by creating your own seed sphere made with native wildflower seeds milkweed, sunflowers and blazing star, among others. Take a walk through our Food Forest and collect leaf samples to make nature prints. How can you be a better Earth steward? Learn how simple earth-friendly options can go a long way.

Camp 71 June 9 (One-Day Camp - Offsite) Approximately 71% of the earth’s surface is made up of water. After celebrating World Oceans Day, join the MODS Squad to dive deep into Florida’s saltwater habitats. Estuaries are crucial habitats for young marine life in Florida. Learn about the components of an estuary and assemble an edible estuary. End your day with an engaging discussion about sea turtles.
PLEASE NOTE: This day camp will be held at the Marine Environmental Education Center at the Carpenter House at 4414 N Surf Rd, Hollywood, FL 33019. Parents should park across the building and bring your camper to the front door. Drop-off is at 9:30 a.m. and camp will run until 4 p.m. Aftercare will be from 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. Campers will have the opportunity to learn about our local sea turtle conservation program, meet "Captain" the ambassador green sea turtle and even participate in a feeding.
Inspiration Takes Flight! June 12-16 (Five-Day Camp) Create items that fly, all while learning about gravity and lift. Use imagination and testing, key parts of the design process, to complete the activity. Next, parachutes! Discover the engineering principles behind skydiving. Jump on an epic journey to learn about the Wright brothers and their fascination with flying. Make your own motor rotor and test it.
Expedition: Dinosaur! June 19-23 (Five-Day Camp) Become a MODS paleontologist as we dig into the past and unearth life that may have existed millions of years ago. Learn about how fossils are formed, and how the explorers and scientists who discover them are able to preserve these specimens. Can you estimate the size of a dinosaur from one bone? Be among the first to explore our newest traveling exhibit Expedition: Dinosaur!
Mystery at MODS! (Whodunnit Camp) CSI June 26-30 (Five-Day Camp) Everyone loves a good mystery! Keep your eyes open for clues as we start this camp with a mystery and spend the entire week solving it. Follow in the steps of a CSI team. Learn about investigation techniques. Collect evidence, view hair and clothing fibers under microscopes, and analyze fingerprints and handwriting samples.
It’s Shocking! July 3 (One-Day Camp) Experience the power of electricity to heat things up and make things move. As a conductor of electricity, you are sure to have an electrifying time as we explore circuits! Close the circuits to power lights, fans, even music boxes. Experiment with the powers of static electricity and currents.
Animal Adventure July 5-7 (Three-Day Camp) This week is all about animals. How do puffer fish create designs on the sand? Learn how this particular fish creates geometrical designs to communicate with others. Discover which everyday products were first engineered by animals and learn how to make your own version of them, and then meet some of the Museum’s animal ambassadors!

Our first order of business? Get sorted and make your own wand. LEGO® Build to Launch July 31-August 4 (Five-Day Camp) Explore the technology, STEAM concepts and careers behind the Artemis I mission to the Moon with the new LEGO® Space Team and their Artemis I counterparts. Through hands-on open-ended lessons, solve similar problems faced by NASA engineers, scientists and astronauts.
Messy Matter August 7-11 (Five-Day Camp) If messy is your middle name, then this Camp is for you! - Multiple-day camps cannot be purchased as one-day camps
- We accept Visa, MasterCard or American Express. You may also pay cash in person at the Box Office.
- Museum members may also pay by personal check. Checks should be made payable to: Museum of Discovery and Science.
- A camp registration confirmation will be sent to you once your child’s registration has been processed.
- Box lunches for campers are available for pre-orders.
- The Museum reserves the right to combine like age levels to meet minimum attendance requirements.
- The Museum reserves the right to cancel a program if minimum enrollment has not been reached.
- Camp fees must be processed and submitted prior to your child participating in Camp Discovery.

- All camp registrations are final and will be honored only on the camp day/week purchased.
- Except in the case of an event cancellation by the Museum, there are no refunds or exchanges allowed.
- Absences may not be “made up” by having your child(ren) attend another camp on a different day, nor will you receive a prorated amount/refund/credit for any missed days. This includes illnesses or emergencies.
- If a camper is sent home due to behavioral reasons, no refunds will be provided.
Promotional Photography
From time to time, the Museum of Discovery and Science takes photographs during classes and camp. These photographs are used for many purposes, including advertising and promotional materials. Should you have any objection to the Museum taking or using photographs of you or your children, please call and advise a reservations agent before your child’s camp begins. This information will be recorded in your child’s record.

SENSORY FRIENDLY SUNDAYS:

MODS will be opening an hour early for sensory-friendly Museum exploration and activities followed by an IMAX film* at 12:30 p.m.
To provide a more sensory-sensitive environment for individuals on the autism spectrum, the theater lights will be turned up and the sound will be lowered. All films will be presented in 2D. No trailers will be shown before the movie. Audience members are welcome to get up, sing, walk, dance and shout without worrying about someone complaining. Families also are able to bring snacks from home, as well as blankets and other small items to be comfortable.
Guests also can participate in a variety of sensory based activities throughout the Museum. Children will engage in social interactions and improve the processing, modulation and regulation of sensory input to increase participation in a natural environment.

Expedition: Dinosaur! August 14-18 (Five-Day Camp) Become a MODS paleontologist as we dig into the past and unearth life that may have existed millions of years ago. Learn about how fossils are formed, and how the explorers and scientists who discover them are able to preserve these specimens. Can you estimate the size of a dinosaur from one bone? Be among the first to explore our newest traveling exhibit Expedition: Dinosaur!

Promotional Photography
From time to time, the Museum of Discovery and Science takes photographs during classes and camp. These photographs are used for many purposes, including advertising and promotional materials. Should you have any objection to the Museum taking or using photographs of you or your children, please call and advise a reservations agent before your child’s camp begins. This information will be recorded in your child’s record.

North Pole Pajama Party

2023 Beach Cleanups
Join MODS and The Extra Catch for our beach cleanups at the Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park (park entrance fees will be waived for cleanup participants).
The cleanup is appropriate for all ages but recommended for children 8 years old and older. All children 16 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Engineering on a Roll! April 7 (One-Day Camp) Bring all of your creative skills to build up a collaborative Rube Goldberg machine (a chain reaction contraption!). Learn about succession and the principles of potential and kinetic energy. Make your own marble maze out of LEGO® sets. How fast can a marble roll? Find out when you set up a marble run.
Sun Rays and Rain Days! April 21 (One-Day Camp) Keeping it native is what Earth Day is about! Feed our native insects by creating your own seed sphere made with native wildflower seeds milkweed, sunflowers and blazing star, among others. Take a walk through our Food Forest and collect leaf samples to make nature prints. How can you be a better Earth steward? Learn how simple earth-friendly options can go a long way.

At Camp Discovery, we’ve crafted the ultimate age-appropriate camp experience, providing campers with interactive exploration and hands-on learning opportunities in the coolest camp environment, including a weekly IMAX immersion! Camp 71 June 9 (One-Day Camp - Offsite) Approximately 71% of the earth’s surface is made up of water. After celebrating World Oceans Day, join the MODS Squad to dive deep into Florida’s saltwater habitats. Estuaries are crucial habitats for young marine life in Florida. Learn about the components of an estuary and assemble an edible estuary. End your day with an engaging discussion about sea turtles.
PLEASE NOTE: This day camp will be held at the Marine Environmental Education Center at the Carpenter House at 4414 N Surf Rd, Hollywood, FL 33019. Parents should park across the building and bring your camper to the front door. Drop-off is at 9:30 a.m. and camp will run until 4 p.m. Aftercare will be from 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. Campers will have the opportunity to learn about our local sea turtle conservation program, meet "Captain" the ambassador green sea turtle and even participate in a feeding.
Inspiration Takes Flight! June 12-16 (Five-Day Camp) Create items that fly, all while learning about gravity and lift. Use imagination and testing, key parts of the design process, to complete the activity. Next, parachutes! Discover the engineering principles behind skydiving. Jump on an epic journey to learn about the Wright brothers and their fascination with flying. Make your own motor rotor and test it.

Mystery at MODS! (Whodunnit Camp) CSI June 26-30 (Five-Day Camp) Everyone loves a good mystery! Keep your eyes open for clues as we start this camp with a mystery and spend the entire week solving it. Follow in the steps of a CSI team. Learn about investigation techniques. Collect evidence, view hair and clothing fibers under microscopes, and analyze fingerprints and handwriting samples.
It’s Shocking! July 3 (One-Day Camp) Experience the power of electricity to heat things up and make things move. As a conductor of electricity, you are sure to have an electrifying time as we explore circuits! Close the circuits to power lights, fans, even music boxes. Experiment with the powers of static electricity and currents.
Animal Adventure July 5-7 (Three-Day Camp) This week is all about animals. How do puffer fish create designs on the sand? Learn how this particular fish creates geometrical designs to communicate with others. Kids rule at MODS! Children ages 6 to 12 years old are invited to an evening of fun and science with MODS educators. Caregivers will enjoy a kid-free night out while children have an action-packed evening exploring MODS after dark. 2023 Turtle Walks
By Moonlight On The Beach!
Your adventure begins at the Museum with a presentation about turtles and then continues at Fort Lauderdale Beach where a Museum expert guides you to sea turtle nesting grounds. We can’t guarantee a nesting sea turtle will be spotted on every walk, but when it happens, it’s a natural wonder you will never forget!

To provide a more sensory-sensitive environment for individuals on the autism spectrum, the theater lights will be turned up and the sound will be lowered. All films will be presented in 2D. No trailers will be shown before the movie. Audience members are welcome to get up, sing, walk, dance and shout without worrying about someone complaining. Families also are able to bring snacks from home, as well as blankets and other small items to be comfortable.
Guests also can participate in a variety of sensory based activities throughout the Museum. Children will engage in social interactions and improve the processing, modulation and regulation of sensory input to increase participation in a natural environment.

Countdown to Kindergarten

Join in at MODS in partnership with Broward County Public Schools to experience some of the tools your child needs to be prepared to begin Kindergarten.
